Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) has reported a power supply interruption caused by severe thunderstorm activity in the Monasavu area. A lightning strike affected the transmission lines, leading to disruptions around 6 am today. The impacted transmission lines included the 132,000 volts Wailoa to Cunningham Road in Suva and the Wailoa to Vuda in Lautoka, which temporarily cut power to several regions in the Central and Western Divisions of Viti Levu.

Bobby Naimawi, the Acting Chief Operating Officer of EFL, confirmed that the teams swiftly worked to restore the electricity supply. By 8:30 am, power had been fully restored, ensuring that residents were able to resume their daily activities with minimal delay.

This quick response highlights the dedication of EFL’s team in managing infrastructure challenges caused by extreme weather. The restoration of power in a timely manner can foster a sense of community resilience, as people can return to their normal routines more quickly thanks to the efficient efforts of utility providers.
