“We use 100 percent soy wax and incorporate a bit of gel wax into our candles. They are all scented and fragrant,” shared Mahima. The sisters aim to create pieces that reflect the beauty of Fiji, alongside offering dessert-themed candles and body candles, appealing to a variety of tastes.
They started their business, Alora Fiji, in 2021, using their creativity to support their family after the unfortunate passing of their father. “I have a regular job helping a family member at his restaurant, but I also pursue this venture after my dad’s passing to provide extra financial support for the family and cover our small expenses. It’s something I genuinely enjoy,” Mahima explained, noting her return to Fiji from the US to take on this responsibility.
She emphasized her desire to introduce more accessible decorative items to Fiji, especially given the rising prices and increased VAT placing a strain on the local market.
