Les Kiss has been appointed as the new head coach of the Wallabies and will kick off his tenure against Eddie Jones’s Japan, as outlined in Australia’s 14-Test schedule for 2026. Currently leading the Queensland Reds, Kiss will succeed Joe Schmidt after the initial rounds of the newly established Nations Championship in July.
Kiss’s first match in charge will take place on August 8, when Australia travels to Japan. A week later, the two teams will meet again, this time in Townsville. The Wallabies, who will host the 2027 Rugby World Cup, have a challenging lineup ahead. They will face Six Nations contenders Ireland at the Sydney Football Stadium on July 4, followed by a match against the fifth-ranked French team in Brisbane the subsequent week.
This new chapter for the Wallabies under Kiss promises to be exciting, not only as they prepare for the World Cup but also as they aim to strengthen their position in international rugby with these high-stakes matches.
