An alleged list of applicants for the People’s Alliance Party (PAP) in the upcoming general election has emerged on social media, prompting the party to investigate the leak. The images circulating online reportedly contain over 60 applications detailing names, submission dates, and methods, such as hand-delivered and emailed submissions.

Notable names included in the document are Foreign Affairs Minister Sakiasi Ditoka, acting Attorney General Siromi Turaga, and other prominent figures like Minister Maciu Nalusima and PAP Secretary General Sila Balawa. Additionally, individuals such as Timoci Bure, Maritino Nemani, and Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure were mentioned.

In response to the leak, PAP Secretary General Sila Balawa emphasized the importance of confidentiality in the candidate application and selection process, which is governed by the party’s constitution. He stated that unauthorized disclosures are unacceptable and represent a serious breach of party discipline. Internal processes have already been initiated to trace the source of the leak and to identify those responsible.

This situation highlights the ongoing complexities within party politics, particularly regarding transparency and internal protocols. As the investigation unfolds, it will be critical for the PAP to address these challenges while maintaining trust and unity among its members.
