Education Minister Aseri Radrodro recently addressed school leaders at the 131st Fiji Principals Association Conference held in Suva, urging them to embrace change and lead transformative educational practices in the nation. He emphasized the critical role that school leaders play in shaping the educational landscape and highlighted the importance of self-discipline and personal responsibility as foundations for effective leadership.
During his address, Radrodro reiterated the need for continuous professional development among educators, asserting that school leaders are in a unique position to influence their school’s environment positively. “You are in a position of influence. In your position of leadership, you are provided an opportunity to be able to influence the school environment that you lead,” he remarked.
He also stressed the importance of active engagement in curriculum implementation, suggesting that the learning experiences of students must be reflected in their workbooks. Furthermore, he encouraged principals to stay current in the digital age, pushing for the integration of technology and artificial intelligence in educational practices.
Radrodro’s previous comments at the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference resonated with similar themes, as he called on educators to create inspiring environments that foster creativity and innovative thinking among students. He highlighted the necessity of bridging the gap between traditional and modern teaching methods, empowering students to think independently and become future leaders.
This consistent focus on enhanced educational practices and leadership demonstrates Radrodro’s commitment to improving the educational system in Fiji, paving the way for a future where both teachers and students can thrive.
With the government backing and a collective effort from school leaders, there is optimism for positive changes that can transform the educational framework in Fiji, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed.
