This reshuffle has been confirmed by the Public Service Commission (PSC) and agreed upon by the Prime Minister. In this leadership transition, Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala, currently serving as the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, will succeed Dr. Taga in her previous office. Additionally, Dr. Korovavala will take on the position of Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Immigration, reporting directly to the Minister of Immigration.

Further changes include Manasa Lesuma, who is presently the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, assuming the role of Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Policing as of January 14, 2025.

Chairman of the PSC, Luke Rokovada, emphasized that this reshuffle is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to optimize leadership and ensure effective management across vital ministries. It is a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing governance and improving service delivery within the public sector.

These changes resonate with the government’s focus on promoting local talent in leadership roles, which fosters confidence in the capabilities of Fijian professionals. The PSC’s strategy to appoint leaders with proven expertise reflects a commitment to ensuring competent governance that responds to the needs of the public.

Overall, this reshuffle is hopeful as it emphasizes innovation and growth within the government, allowing for a more efficient administrative framework that is better positioned to meet the demands of the future.
