Leadership Shakeup: PA Appoints New Deputy Amid Scandal

The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, succeeding Lynda Tabuya, who was removed from the position in March. Tabuya’s dismissal was connected to allegations regarding her involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug controversy during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. The party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, announced yesterday that the executive committee approved Tuisawau’s appointment during a meeting on September 25.

Ro Filipe holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services, and serves as the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He previously acted as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the prior administration.
