Aporosa Yada emerged as a hero for Lautoka by scoring two crucial goals in extra time, leading his team to a dramatic 5-3 victory over Ba in the first semifinal of the 2024 Extra Supermarket Futsal Inter District Championship (IDC) at the Vodafone Arena in Suva this morning. This victory propels Lautoka into the grand final.
Lautoka kicked off the match on a strong note, quickly gaining an advantage with goals from veteran player Taniela Waqa and Aporosa Yada. However, Ba fought back, with Etonia Dogalau narrowing the gap just before halftime and then equalizing early in the second half.
With the match nearing its end, Manasa Nawakula put Ba ahead, but Yada struck again to level the score, forcing extra time. In the additional period, Ravinesh Chand missed a penalty for Ba, and Yada capitalized on the opportunity by scoring two late goals, sealing Lautoka’s victory.
The 22-year-old Yada, hailing from Keiyasi village, is currently leading the golden boot race with a total of 10 goals, showing his immense potential as a key player in the upcoming final.
