Aporosa Yada scored two crucial extra-time goals to secure Lautoka’s place in the grand final of the 2024 Extra Supermarket Futsal Inter District Championship (IDC), defeating Ba 5-3 in a very exciting semifinal held this morning at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
Lautoka made a strong start, quickly taking the lead with goals from veteran player Taniela Waqa and Yada. However, Ba’s Etonia Dogalau managed to get one back just before halftime and scored again early in the second half to level the match. Manasa Nawakula then put Ba in front moments before the end of regulation time, but Yada answered back in a dramatic finish, equalizing and sending the game into extra time.
During the additional period, Ba’s Ravinesh Chand missed a penalty, an opportunity that Lautoka capitalized on with two late goals from Yada, who has now emerged as a key figure in their quest for the championship. The young player from Keiyasi has taken the lead in the golden boot race with a total of ten goals.
This thrilling victory not only showcases Lautoka’s resilience but positions them strongly for the final.
