Lautoka’s Title Chase: Can They Conquer the Pacific Community Cup?

Lautoka, the host of the 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup, is determined to end the season on a high note by clinching yet another title. After securing victories in both the Fiji FACT and the Battle of the Giants tournaments earlier this year, the team, led by coach Shivam Raj, is now focused on adding another trophy to their accomplishments.

However, Lautoka’s journey will not be straightforward as they find themselves in a challenging group that includes last season’s runners-up, the Manukau All Stars, along with AuFFI All Stars and Navua. To bolster their chances, Lautoka has made significant additions to their roster, welcoming former Fiji U20 representatives Savenaca Baledrokadroka, Junior Dekedeke, and New Zealand-based players Mohammed Aadil, Mohammed Aaron Arif, and Mason Wells. Experienced goalkeeper Senirusi Bokini and veteran midfielder Edwin Sahayam are also making a return to the squad.

While the team is keen to compete competitively, they will be without notable players Epeli Leiroti and Antonio Tuivuna, both of whom are sidelined due to injuries. Regular players Saula Waqa, Sairusi Nalaubu, Aporosa Yada, Zibraaz Sahib, Ilimotama Jese, Kishan Sami, Sterling Vasconcellos, and Sakaraia Naisua are expected to spearhead the team’s efforts on their home turf.

The Lautoka squad is set to face the NZFFI Manukau All Stars in their first match on Day 1 at 8:45 PM, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting competition.

This commitment indicates not only the team’s ambition but also how well they adapt to challenges, potentially leading to a thrilling season ahead. By maintaining their focus and harnessing the strengths of their experienced and new players, Lautoka fans have much to be optimistic about as they embark on this quest for glory.
