Plans are advancing for the construction of a new swimming pool and the rehabilitation of the bus stand in Lautoka, as confirmed by Mohammed Anees Khan, Chief Executive Officer of the Lautoka City Administration. The community has been eagerly awaiting these developments, and hope is high for timely progress on both projects.

Khan expressed optimism that a contractor for the bus stand project will be selected and an agreement signed by the end of this month. The renovations will follow a phased approach, allowing the bus station to remain operational during construction, similar to what’s been implemented at the Suva Bus Stand. This careful planning acknowledges the need for minimizing disruption to public transport services during the upgrade.

The construction of the Lautoka Swimming Pool is also moving forward, with completion anticipated by March next year. The project manager is currently assessing what has been completed and identifying tasks necessary for the facility to be ready for local use. There is a future potential for the pool to be upgraded to meet international competitive standards, should there be demand within the community.

Significantly, these initiatives signify a commitment to enhancing recreational facilities and transportation infrastructure in Lautoka, which can foster community engagement and boost local interest in swimming and other activities. Overall, the completion of these projects is expected to positively impact the community by providing modern amenities that promote healthier lifestyles and improved public services.

In light of these developments, there is hope that the city will not only benefit from enhanced infrastructure but also create opportunities for community vitality and engagement, inspiring residents to participate more actively in local recreational activities.
