Lautoka pulled off a significant upset on the second day of the primary school inter-district competition by defeating Rewa with a score of 2-1.
From the outset, Lautoka showcased their energy and focus. They took an early lead with a powerful header from a corner kick, putting them ahead 1-0. However, Rewa responded quickly, equalizing just before halftime to make it 1-1.
The second half was filled with intensity as both teams pushed for a goal. Lautoka regained the lead through a clever series of passes, concluding with a goal that made it 2-1. Rewa fought hard to come back, but Lautoka’s defense remained resilient, with their goalkeeper making several crucial saves. When the final whistle blew, Lautoka celebrated their hard-fought victory.
Lautoka’s coach, Kavneel Chand, expressed pride in his team’s performance, stating that the win was a result of their hard work. “This win shows how teamwork and hard work pay off, and I am very proud of the boys,” he remarked. He noted that the players representing Lautoka were selected after trials, highlighting the thorough preparation process that included inviting schools to send their best players.
Chand also conveyed a message to opposing teams, encouraging them to come prepared.
