Lautoka caused a significant upset on the second day of the primary school inter-district competition by defeating Rewa with a score of 2-1.

From the outset, Lautoka demonstrated energy and focus, taking an early lead with a powerful header from a corner kick, which put them ahead 1-0. However, Rewa quickly responded and managed to equalize just before halftime, bringing the score to 1-1.

The second half was filled with intensity as both teams vigorously sought to score. Lautoka regained the lead after a clever series of passes culminated in a second goal, making it 2-1. Rewa attempted to mount a comeback, but Lautoka’s defense held firm, with their goalkeeper making several crucial saves. When the final whistle blew, Lautoka celebrated a well-deserved victory.

Lautoka’s coach, Kavneel Chand, expressed pride in his team’s performance, attributing the win to their hard work. “This win shows how teamwork and hard work pay off, and I am very proud of the boys,” he stated.

Chand explained that the players representing Lautoka were selected through trials. “The preparation went well. We began recruiting players weeks ago after the inter-primary competition. Schools were invited to send their best players for trials, which helped us form a strong team,” he added.

He also advised the opposing team to come prepared for future matches.
