Lautoka Set to Host Thrilling 2024 Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship!

Lautoka has been selected to host the 2024 Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship, as announced during the launch event at the Lautoka City Council Chambers.

Prashant Prasad, the Vodafone Senior Business Relationship Manager for the Western and Northern Region, expressed pride in supporting the Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Nationals for the second consecutive year. He emphasized excitement for the upcoming tournament, noting the challenges that lay ahead for the competitors.

“We anticipate thrilling games ahead. The path to success will not be easy, but it is these challenges that forge true champions,” Prasad stated. He also highlighted the skills, determination, and sportsmanship that each team is expected to showcase, welcoming over 50 participating teams, including several newcomers.

“To all athletes, remember that your hard work and dedication have brought you here. Play with passion, respect, and integrity,” he advised.

Lautoka City Council CEO Mohammed Anees Khan expressed enthusiasm for hosting the event. “We look forward to hosting this event for the second year in Lautoka,” he said.

This year’s tournament will feature 70 schools competing over three days, with participation from more than 800 students. Lautoka Muslim College will make its debut with an Under 19 boys’ team, while Ratu Kadavulevu School, Sacred Heart College, and Votualevu College will return to the competition.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 29 to 31.
