The Lautoka rugby team is gearing up to host their rivals, Nadi, in the first match of the Skipper Cup at Churchill Park this Saturday. As the excitement ramps up just days before the game, Lautoka aims to establish a strong foundation for the 2025 season.
In an encouraging development for grassroots rugby, BLK Fiji has entered into a partnership with the Lautoka Rugby Union by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement, formalized at BLK Fiji’s Tavakubu office, enables the provision of new kits and resources to enhance the team’s preparations. Lautoka Rugby Union president Inoke Momoedonu expressed gratitude towards BLK Fiji, noting that their timely support is pivotal in uplifting the standard of the team as they head into the competition.
Donasiano Kalou, the sales and marketing manager at BLK Fiji, stated that this partnership reflects their commitment to support rugby development at all levels. They will provide high-quality training and warm-up kits to keep the team both professional and comfortable throughout the season.
The positive momentum in Lautoka’s rugby landscape is echoed by similar commitments across Fiji, as other unions also strive to bolster their squads and engage local talent in preparation for the competitive season ahead. The enthusiasm for nurturing young players and integrating them with seasoned athletes signifies a collective dream of fostering local sporting excellence.
As Lautoka Rugby Union embarks on this new season, there is a hopeful atmosphere surrounding their initiatives and the positive community support they receive. This spirit not only sets the stage for thrilling matches but also inspires a generation of potential rugby stars in Fiji.
