The FIJI Water Foundation, alongside FIJI Water, Neptune Pacific Direct Line (NPDL), and Aspen Medical, has collaborated to revitalize the Children’s Ward at Lautoka Hospital just in time for Christmas. This initiative is part of their Wonderful Neighbour Project, which aims to enhance healthcare in the Western Division.

The Wonderful Neighbour Project encourages employees from FIJI Water and NPDL to propose and implement impactful community projects, with each participant receiving a budget of $100 and eight hours of paid work time. This initiative not only strengthens the relationship between these organizations and the communities they serve but also fosters a spirit of cooperation.

Gavin Whiteside, CEO of Aspen Medical in Fiji, expressed his appreciation for the project, noting that the improvements made at the Children’s Ward will provide lasting benefits for families in the area. Semi Lotawa, the director of the FIJI Water Foundation, highlighted that 798 employees took part in 21 projects throughout Fiji this year, contributing over 4,500 hours of volunteer work.

The updates to the Children’s Ward included refurbishing the waiting area, upgrading restroom facilities, and donating a new washing machine, dryer, and recreational items like a swing set and trikes for the children. The team also engaged in various maintenance tasks such as painting, tiling, and landscaping. Approximately 120 employees dedicated three days to this meaningful project.

This heartwarming endeavor reflects a strong commitment to community welfare and showcases the positive changes that can arise when organizations and their employees unite for a common cause.

This initiative serves as an inspiring reminder of the impact that collective action can have on local communities, fostering hope and resilience, particularly during the holiday season.
