The High Court in Lautoka has postponed a pretrial conference for Iliesa Tanoa Degei, who stands accused of raping a Virgin Australia Airlines cabin crew member. The alleged incident took place in Nadi in late 2024.

During the court proceedings, Justice Sunil Sharma reviewed the status of the case. The defense team indicated that while a pretrial checklist and agreed facts had been submitted, they required an additional seven days to comment on the documents. The defense also requested 14 days to schedule the date for the pretrial conference.

Justice Sharma ultimately decided to adjourn the case, setting the next court date for April 15, when the pretrial conference hearing will take place. Meanwhile, the accused remains on bail, allowing him to remain out of custody as the legal process continues. The court’s decision reflects the careful consideration of legal procedures, ensuring that both sides have ample opportunity to prepare for the upcoming proceedings.
