Lautoka Football Club Aims for Treble Glory at IDC!

Lautoka Football Club is preparing for the much-awaited FMF Inter District Championship (IDC), scheduled for October 15-20. Following a successful season that saw them clinch titles in both the Fiji FACT and the Battle of the Giants tournaments, the Blues are eager to end the year on a victorious note.

Club president Shalendra Prasad announced that the team is actively working to bring back former Lautoka goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara for the tournament, although nothing has been finalized yet. “Beniamino is the only player we are trying to get because he is a former Lautoka player, but we can’t confirm anything,” Prasad stated.

This effort is part of the club’s strategy to strengthen their squad ahead of the challenging competition. When questioned about the status of player James Hoyt, Prasad remarked, “Nothing on Hoyt,” indicating that there are no updates.

The focus for Lautoka remains on refining their current roster, with the final 22-member squad set to be announced on Monday. “We will wait for our final 22 squad to be released, then I can make further comment,” he added.

As the hosts of this year’s IDC, Lautoka faces high expectations from their supporters, who are keen to see if the team can sustain their impressive performance. With two major trophies already secured, the pivotal question is whether Lautoka can achieve a treble by winning the IDC title. All eyes are on the Blues as they get ready for one of the year’s most significant football events.
