A fire broke out at the Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) office in Lautoka shortly before noon, prompting an immediate response from the building management team. Vineel Gounder, the Building Manager, reported that upon hearing the fire alarm, he and his team swiftly made their way to the office, discovering that the blaze had originated in the server room.

Fortunately, all seven staff members present in the EFL office were safely evacuated without injury. The nearby Fiji Times office, which is situated directly above the EFL premises, experienced minor damage due to the incident. A security guard who played a key role in facilitating the evacuation confirmed that all six staff members from the Fiji Times were also safely removed from the premises.

Firefighters arrived promptly and were successful in containing the fire, ensuring that the situation did not escalate further. At this time, the cause of the fire remains undetermined, and investigations are likely to follow to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
