Lautoka Football Club is preparing for the much-anticipated FMF Inter District Championship (IDC), which will be held from October 15-20.
After a successful season that saw them win both the Fiji FACT and the Battle of the Giants tournaments, the Blues are determined to finish the year on a high note.
Club president Shalendra Prasad has indicated that they are making efforts to bring back former Lautoka goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara for the competition, although no confirmation has been made as of yet.
“Beniamino is the only player we are trying to get because he is a former Lautoka player, but we can’t confirm anything,” Prasad stated.
This attempt is part of the club’s strategy to strengthen their squad ahead of the competitive challenges they will face.
When questioned about the availability of James Hoyt, Prasad simply said, “Nothing on Hoyt,” emphasizing that they are focused on optimizing their current roster before any final decisions are made.
He also announced that the final 22-member squad will be confirmed on Monday. “We will wait for our final 22 squad to be released then I can make further comment,” he added.
As the host team for this year’s IDC, Lautoka faces significant expectations from their supporters, who are eager to see if the team can maintain their strong performance.
Having already secured two major trophies this season, the big question remains: can Lautoka achieve a treble and add the IDC to their list of accolades?
All attention will be on the Blues as they prepare for this pivotal event in the football calendar.
