Lautoka, the host of the 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup, is determined to secure yet another title this season. After a successful run in the Fiji FACT and the Battle of the Giants tournament earlier this year, the team, guided by coach Shivam Raj, is eager to add another trophy to their accomplishments.
The challenges ahead are significant, as Lautoka is placed in a competitive group featuring last season’s runners-up, Manukau All Stars, alongside AuFFI All Stars and Navua. To bolster their chances, the club has strengthened its lineup by welcoming several talented players who previously represented Fiji’s U20 team, such as Savenaca Baledrokadroka and Junior Dekedeke, as well as New Zealand-based Mohammed Aadil and Mason Wells.
The team also sees the return of experienced players like goalkeeper Senirusi Bokini and midfielder Edwin Sahayam, who bring valuable experience to the squad. Unfortunately, injuries have sidelined Epeli Leiroti and Antonio Tuivuna, but the team can draw on the expertise of regular players such as Saula Waqa, Sairusi Nalaubu, and others to lead their campaign.
Lautoka will kick off their tournament against the NZFFI Manukau All Stars in a highly anticipated match on the first day at 8:45 PM.
Regardless of the challenges, Lautoka’s ambition and the addition of new talent promise an exciting campaign. Fans will be hopeful that the team’s determination and skill will lead them to yet another championship title, making this season one for the books.
This article emphasizes Lautoka’s commitment and readiness for the upcoming competition, setting an inspiring tone for their supporters. As the team prepares to face powerful opponents, the anticipation builds, showcasing both the talent within their ranks and the spirit of sportsmanship that is evident in the Pacific Community Cup.
