Lautoka emerged as the champions of Group A in the 2024 Extra Supermarket Futsal Inter-District Championship, held at the Vodafone Arena, after clinching a thrilling 5-3 victory over Lami, which secured them a spot in the semifinals.
From the beginning of the match, Lautoka maintained control, with Lami struggling to keep up with their pace. Lautoka’s Head Coach, Waseem Kutty, expressed confidence in the team’s performance despite facing tough competition in recent days.
“We want to congratulate Lami; they played a good game, and it was hard on us,” Kutty said, appreciating the challenge posed by their opponents. He emphasized the importance of their victory, stating, “We came into this game knowing we had to win, and there was no other way around it.”
Reflecting on the rigorous matches leading up to this point, Kutty noted, “For the past few days, it has been tough; we have played three tough games against Labasa, Nadi, and Lami.” He also acknowledged the resilience of his team, adding, “Luckily for us, the boys have recovered well.”
