Authorities are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in his 50s, discovered lifeless at the Tau Primary School grounds in Lautoka over the weekend. The incident occurred on Saturday, December 6, when the man’s wife sought assistance after he became involved in an altercation with another individual at their residence.
Reports indicate that both men were allegedly intoxicated during the confrontation. Upon the wife’s return with a medical official, they found the victim unresponsive on the ground. The medical official performed an examination but sadly declared the man dead at the scene.
In response, police launched an investigation, treating the situation as a potential assault. The individual involved in the altercation has been arraigned at the Nadi Magistrates Court, and the case has been moved to the Lautoka High Court, where a hearing is set for December 22.
