The truck driver who illegally dumped waste near the Waiyavi Waterfall has been identified following an investigation by the Lautoka City Council’s Litter Prevention Officers. The council announced that the owner of the truck has accepted responsibility for the illegal dumping and has committed to cleaning up the impacted area.

As part of the enforcement action, a litter spot fine has been imposed under the Litter Promulgation Act 2010. The Lautoka City Council has reiterated its dedication to protecting the environment and has pledged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to preserve natural locations.

In light of this incident, the council has called on the community and waste management operators to ensure responsible waste disposal and adhere to all relevant waste management regulations. This proactive approach not only addresses current litter issues but also reinforces the importance of environmental stewardship among residents and businesses alike.
