Lautoka, the host of the 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup, is determined to secure another title as the season draws to a close. Under the guidance of coach Shivam Raj, the team aims to add to its impressive achievements this year, having already clinched the Fiji FACT and the Battle of the Giants tournament titles.
The road to victory will be challenging for Lautoka as they navigate a tough group that includes last season’s runners-up, the Manukau All Stars, along with AuFFI All Stars and Navua. The team has strengthened its roster with the addition of former Fiji U20 players Savenaca Baledrokadroka, Junior Dekedeke, and New Zealand-based players Mohammed Aadil, Mohammed Aaron Arif, and Mason Wells.
In a significant boost for the team, experienced goalkeeper Senirusi Bokini and seasoned midfielder Edwin Sahayam are making a return. However, Lautoka will miss the services of Epeli Leiroti and Antonio Tuivuna due to injuries. Key players such as Saula Waqa, Sairusi Nalaubu, Aporosa Yada, Zibraaz Sahib, Ilimotama Jese, Kishan Sami, Sterling Vasconcellos, and Sakaraia Naisua are set to lead the campaign on home ground.
Lautoka will kick off their campaign against the NZFFI Manukau All Stars in the final match of Day 1 at 8:45 PM.
Comment: With a mix of experienced players and fresh talent, Lautoka’s prospects look promising. Their recent successes can inspire confidence heading into the tournament, demonstrating the team’s commitment to not just compete, but to aim for victory. The support of the home crowd will be a crucial factor in their journey toward securing another title.
Summary: Lautoka aims to win another title at the 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup, having already achieved two tournament victories this year. Despite facing strong competition, the team’s strengthened roster is poised to make a significant impact as they start their campaign at home.
