This morning, two men were apprehended for the possession of illegal drugs during a coordinated operation involving the Fiji Police and the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU). The operation took place in Wailea, Vatuwaqa, where authorities found 10 dried loose branches believed to be marijuana at around 2 a.m.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu reported that the raid was successful, primarily due to the capabilities of the K-9 units from the FDDU, which made locating the drugs relatively straightforward. ACP Driu assured the public that the police will maintain their vigilance, conducting further drug raids and monitoring checkpoints, as well as engaging with people who are loitering at unusual hours.

The suspects are now in police custody, with ongoing investigations into the incident.

This enforcement action highlights the commitment of local authorities to combat drug-related offenses and maintain public safety. The collaboration between various police units and the effective use of K-9 support are promising signs in the fight against drug trafficking. As authorities continue their efforts, the community can feel hopeful that such operations will contribute to safer environments.
