Max Jorgensen clinched a thrilling victory for Australia with a last-minute try, leading them to a remarkable 42-37 win over England at Twickenham. The match was an exhilarating spectacle, featuring 10 tries and a lead that changed hands four times in the final quarter of the game.

England seemed to have the match sealed when Marcus Smith kicked a conversion after Maro Itoje’s try in the 78th minute, only for the determined Wallabies to respond unexpectedly and secure an upset win. This victory marked just Australia’s second triumph against England in their last 12 encounters and their first at Twickenham since the 2015 World Cup, leaving England facing their fourth consecutive loss.

The game began with England establishing an early lead through a fantastic try by Chandler Cunningham-South, following a precise kick from Marcus Smith. Soon after, Cunningham-South extended the lead with a second try after catching the Australian defense off guard. However, the loss of flanker Tom Curry due to a knockout seemed to disrupt England’s momentum, allowing Australia to capitalize on this setback.

Australia displayed impressive ambition, highlighted by a clever one-handed pass from newcomer Joseph Suaalii that set up Tom Wright for a try. Australia seized control of the game, and a penalty from Noah Lolesio put them ahead at halftime, leaving the home crowd surprised.

In the second half, after a strong start from Australia, England regained their footing, coming back to score and briefly taking the lead with tries from Ollie Sleightholme. However, Australia’s resilience shone through as they retook the lead again thanks to a pick-up by Andrew Kellaway, before England leveled once more with Itoje’s effort.

With time running out, Australia executed a brilliant play through Len Ikitau’s offload to Jorgensen, who sprinted to score the decisive try.

Looking ahead, England will face reigning world champions South Africa next Saturday, while Australia prepares to meet Wales on Sunday. This match has not only set the tone for a competitive season but also proves the unpredictable nature of rugby, filled with exciting twists and moments of brilliance that captivate fans around the world.
