The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is set to close registrations for its fully-funded scholarships on April 30. This announcement was made by Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, Suneet Mehta, during the 96th TISI Sangam Annual Convention in Ba. The ICCR scholarships cover a diverse range of academic disciplines, including engineering, science, agriculture, arts, music, law, and economics.

Mr. Mehta emphasized that the scholarships not only provide a chance for world-class education in India but also empower individuals to effect positive changes in their professional lives. He noted the significant impact these scholarships have had on students globally, particularly in Fiji, where many individuals of Indian descent have benefited from this initiative.

The Fijian students who have participated in the ICCR scholarship program have made notable contributions across various sectors, including politics, education, journalism, and entrepreneurship. This historical connection facilitates a reconnection with their cultural roots and offers them a pathway to success.

The recent celebration of the ICCR’s 75th anniversary highlights the substantial role these scholarships play in addressing the demand for skilled professionals in Fiji. The initiative not only enhances educational and career opportunities for students but also fosters stronger bilateral relations between India and Fiji.

Overall, this ongoing partnership serves as a commitment to educational development and cultural exchange, reflecting a positive trajectory for both nations as they work together to nurture future generations. As thousands of students have already experienced the benefits of this initiative, the hope for continued growth and collaboration remains strong.
