Police are conducting an investigation into a significant robbery that took place in Lami early this morning, with reports indicating that over $70,000 was stolen from a business involved in the fishing industry. The funds, which were kept in a safe, comprised various currencies, including Fiji dollars, as well as denominations from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 2 a.m. when a group of men confronted a security guard, forced him into his booth, and subsequently loaded the safe onto a fiberglass boat that was waiting nearby. As part of the investigation, one suspect has already been taken into police custody, while authorities are actively searching for the remaining accomplices involved in the robbery.
