Police are conducting an investigation into a significant robbery that took place in Lami early this morning, with reports indicating that over $70,000 was stolen from a business involved in the fishing industry. The funds, which were kept in a safe, comprised various currencies, including Fiji dollars, as well as denominations from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 2 a.m. when a group of men confronted a security guard, forced him into his booth, and subsequently loaded the safe onto a fiberglass boat that was waiting nearby.
