A post-mortem examination was conducted today on a police officer who was found deceased in Lami on Sunday, with the results destined for the investigative team. Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu emphasized the importance of allowing the investigation to proceed without speculation or interference from the public.

“We all want answers, and we have an investigation team led by the Divisional Crime Officer Southern working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death,” Tudravu stated. He addressed and dismissed rumors circulating on social media regarding a second officer being missing, asserting that these claims are unfounded. The deceased officer was reportedly on a scheduled day off before returning to duty on Sunday night, a fact known to his superiors.

The Commissioner urged the public to refrain from spreading false information, as it does not contribute positively to the ongoing investigation. “I am urging members of the public to trust the process and allow the investigation team to do their work,” he said.

Updates on the investigation will be provided as new information becomes available, with a focus on maintaining the integrity of the inquiry. In the face of uncertainty, the call for patience reflects a commitment to thorough and fair investigative practices.
