Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has stated that current investigations into the death of a young officer in Lami have not found any connection to drug-related activities, despite ongoing speculation on social media. During a press conference, he addressed inquiries regarding allegations suggesting a potential link to drugs and whether the involvement of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) should be considered in the investigation.

Tudravu clarified that no evidence has surfaced to support these claims, emphasizing, “The investigation so far has not indicated any relationship between the death and drugs. We are keeping an open mind on that.” He reaffirmed that the Fiji Police Force is the primary law enforcement agency responsible for criminal investigations, as mandated by law.

The Commissioner also highlighted that collaborations between law enforcement and the military are not unprecedented and are part of ongoing joint operational efforts. As the investigations continue, the Fiji Police Force remains committed to uncovering the facts surrounding the officer’s death.

This situation underscores the importance of relying on confirmed information rather than speculation, showcasing the police’s dedication to transparency and thorough investigation. The local community can remain hopeful as authorities work diligently to clarify the circumstances of this tragic incident.
