The principal of Lami High School, Cama Toko, announced that the official celebration for the school’s victory in the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Vodafone Deans Trophy Under 19 will take place on Saturday at the school premises. Toko mentioned that the event is being organized by the Lami High School old scholars, the parents, and the teachers’ association.
There are plans for a march starting from Harbour Point in Suvavou to Lami High School as part of the celebrations. Toko noted that all stakeholders are contributing to the preparations and highlighted the importance of completing the event before classes begin next Tuesday for Term Three.
In addition to academic pursuits, Toko emphasized that sports are a crucial part of the school’s curriculum and can also offer career opportunities for students. He remarked that the recent win has significantly boosted the morale and enthusiasm among students, creating a positive atmosphere.
Lami High School has also received invitations to participate in the Hibiscus touch rugby tournament and the Fiji Secondary School cricket competition. Looking ahead, Toko stated that the school plans to conduct off-season training for rugby league in the upcoming first term.
Toko expressed the school’s commitment to inclusive education, focusing on meeting students’ individual needs and using sports as a means to steer them away from drugs and other social challenges.
