Labasa’s aspirations for triumph in the Digicel Fiji Premier League faced a significant setback after they drew 1-1 with Nadi at King Charles Park yesterday. The northerners started strong, with Tigi Molea scoring in the third minute.
Both teams struggled to adapt to the wet conditions, and despite Nadi’s efforts to level the score before halftime, they were met with sturdy defense from Labasa, who held a 1-0 lead at the break.
As the rain intensified in the second half, errors began to surface in both defenses. Ame Votoniu managed to level the score for Nadi following a mistake by Labasa’s defense.
The draw leaves Labasa in second place in the standings with 29 points, trailing four points behind Rewa, who has a match in hand. In other matches that took place yesterday, Tailevu Naitasiri narrowly defeated Nasinu 1-0, while Navua and Suva ended in a 2-2 draw.
