The Damodar Group has announced the opening of a new 40-room hotel in Labasa, marking a significant milestone in the region’s tourism and accommodation landscape. This hotel is part of the larger Damodar City Labasa project, which represents a $60 million investment by Damodar North Pte Limited, with $10 million allocated specifically for the hotel’s construction and interior development.

Div Damodar, the chief executive officer of the Damodar Group, expressed enthusiasm about the hotel’s potential to attract other brands to Labasa. He stated, “This is the start of a new era of tourism and accommodation in Vanualevu. We strongly believe that this will be the catalyst for other brands coming to the region.”

The introduction of the Ramada Encore brand is anticipated to bolster the local tourism industry. Damodar highlighted that the presence of the hotel would present significant opportunities for complementary tourism ventures in Vanua Levu, particularly in the scenic regions surrounding Labasa.

He noted that the Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel will feature 40 well-equipped rooms aimed at both business and leisure travelers. Guests will have access to various facilities, such as a conference venue, swimming pool, gym, outdoor seating, entertainment spaces, and dining options. “These amenities are designed to provide an elevated accommodation experience, consistent with the high standards of the Ramada Encore brand worldwide,” Damodar added.

Looking ahead, he identified potential tourism initiatives in Labasa, including hiking tours, river safaris, and fishing excursions. Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica emphasized the hotel’s role in raising hospitality standards as Labasa’s first international brand.

“The Fijian Government understands the need for ongoing investment and development in Labasa and Vanua Levu,” Kamikamica remarked. “By collaborating with private investors on projects like Damodar City Labasa, we aim to ensure that our region is poised for current demands and future growth.”

The Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel is set to open later this year.
