Labasa’s women’s football team achieved a remarkable 11-0 victory over Suva in the Digicel Fiji Women’s Super League competition, held at the Fiji Football Academy in Suva. Assistant captain of the team, Adi Elisabeta Vulitikoro, expressed great satisfaction with yesterday’s performance and promised an even stronger comeback for the next round of the competition.
“The girls gave their best today, and we succeeded in securing a win,” said the 21-year-old Vulitikoro, confirming that their long-distance travel for the game was well-justified by their impressive victory.
Yet the win came at the expense of many sacrifices and intensive training sessions, given the fact that the team is split between Labasa and Viti Levu, and most of the players are also occupied with high school commitments.
Despite their decisive win over Suva, Vulitikoro believes the team still has areas to work on, especially in terms of capitalising on all opportunities that come their way. Improved accuracy in passing and better control over the ball would top the team’s agenda for the upcoming round of the competition, scheduled for this weekend.
