Damodar Group has announced the upcoming launch of a new 40-room hotel in Labasa town, marking a significant advancement in local tourism and accommodations. This hotel is part of the Damodar City Labasa project, a large-scale commercial initiative that has seen an investment of $60 million from Damodar North Pte Limited, with $10 million specifically allocated for the hotel’s construction and outfitting.
Div Damodar, CEO of Damodar Group, expressed enthusiasm about the new branded hotel serving as a catalyst for attracting additional hotel brands to Labasa. “This is the start of a new era of tourism and accommodation in Vanualevu, and we firmly believe that other brands will follow,” he stated. The introduction of an international hotel like Ramada Encore is anticipated to invigorate the local tourism sector.
Damodar highlighted that the Ramada Encore will create more opportunities for enhancing tourism activities in Vanua Levu, particularly in the scenic areas surrounding Labasa. He emphasized the company’s commitment to showcasing Labasa’s untapped tourism potential through this investment.
The Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel is designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers, featuring well-appointed rooms and a variety of amenities. Guests will enjoy facilities such as a conference venue, swimming pool, gym, outdoor sitting and entertainment areas, as well as restaurants and bars. These offerings aim to provide a high-quality accommodation experience consistent with global Ramada Encore standards.
Mr. Damodar also shared his vision for Labasa’s tourism future, noting potential developments in hiking tours, river safaris, and fishing excursions. Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica remarked that the introduction of the Ramada Encore hotel is poised to raise the standard of hospitality in Labasa as the first international brand hotel in the area.
He reiterated the Fijian government’s commitment to ongoing investment and development in Labasa and Vanua Levu by fostering partnerships with private investors and supporting projects like Damodar City Labasa. The new hotel is slated to open later this year.
