The newly opened 40-room hotel by the Damodar Group in Labasa town is set to enhance the tourism and accommodation landscape of the area. This establishment is part of the broader Damodar City Labasa project, which has seen an investment of $60 million from Damodar North Pte Limited, with $10 million specifically allocated for the hotel’s construction and fitting.
Div Damodar, the chief executive officer of Damodar Group, expressed enthusiasm about the new brand, stating that it will act as a catalyst for attracting other brands to Labasa. He emphasized the hotel’s role in ushering in a new era of tourism and accommodation in Vanua Levu, foreseeing the growth of additional brands in the area.
The introduction of the Ramada Encore by Wyndham is anticipated to foster further development in the local tourism sector. Damodar noted that the hotel’s presence would create more opportunities for complementary tourism activities around Labasa, particularly in its scenic areas. He highlighted the investment as a reflection of the company’s commitment to unlock Labasa’s tourism potential.
The Ramada Encore hotel will feature 40 well-furnished rooms designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers. Amenities will include a conference venue, swimming pool, gym, outdoor seating and entertainment areas, as well as restaurants and bars, all intended to provide a high-quality accommodation experience in line with international standards of the Ramada Encore brand.
Mr. Damodar also pointed out various potential tourism activities in Labasa, such as hiking tours, river safaris, and fishing excursions.
Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, acknowledged the significance of the Ramada Encore by Wyndham as Labasa’s first international brand hotel. He mentioned that the Fijian government is committed to supporting ongoing investments and developments in Labasa and Vanua Levu.
The Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel is expected to officially open later this year.
