Labasa Welcomes First International Hotel: A New Era of Tourism Begins

A new 40-room hotel developed by Damodar Group is set to enhance tourism and accommodation options in Labasa town. This hotel is a key component of the Damodar City Labasa project, a significant commercial initiative that has seen an investment of $60 million from Damodar North Pte Limited, with $10 million allocated specifically for the hotel’s construction and fit-out.

Div Damodar, the chief executive officer of Damodar Group, remarked that this branded hotel would serve as a catalyst for attracting other brands to Labasa. He expressed excitement about the venture, highlighting it as the beginning of a new chapter for tourism and accommodation in Vanualevu. Damodar believes the presence of Ramada Encore will create opportunities for further tourism development, particularly in the scenic areas surrounding Labasa.

The new Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel is designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers, featuring 40 well-equipped rooms. Guests will benefit from various amenities, including a conference space, swimming pool, gym, outdoor seating areas, and dining options, all intended to provide a high-quality accommodation experience that aligns with the global standards of the Ramada Encore brand.

Looking ahead, Damodar mentioned several potential tourism activities in Labasa, such as hiking tours, river safaris, and fishing excursions. Manoa Kamikamica, acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, acknowledged that the Ramada Encore by Wyndham is poised to raise hospitality standards in Labasa as its first international brand hotel.
