The Labasa football team overcame an early deficit to defeat Suva 3-1 during the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship held at Lautoka’s Churchill Park yesterday. Joeli Ranitu scored the opening goal for Suva just before halftime, but Labasa responded with goals from Christopher Wasasala, Taniela Waqa, and Junior Fordney Jr, securing three points.
In the day’s earlier match, John Orobulu shined for Rewa, scoring five impressive goals in a commanding 7-0 victory over Nadroga. Asivorosi Rabo and Epeli Valevou also contributed to Rewa’s scoreline.
In the third match of the opening day, Lautoka was leading Navua 2-0 in the second half when the report was made. Saula Waqa and Sitiveni Cavuilagi were the scorers for the home team.
Today’s matches include Navua facing Suva at 2 PM, Nadroga taking on Ba at 4 PM, Rewa against Nadi at 6 PM, and Lautoka challenging Labasa at 8 PM.
