The Extra Supermarket Labasa football team returned to form with a 2-0 victory over Nasinu in their Digicel Fiji Premier League match at Subrail Park on Saturday. This win secured three vital points, allowing Labasa to hold on to second place in the DFPL standings.

Labasa’s striker Tigi Molea opened the scoring in the first half with a powerful shot from within the 18-yard box, giving his team a 1-0 advantage. The lead was doubled in the 80th minute by young player Jone Lalagavesi, who scored in his debut match for Labasa.

Coach Ravneel Pratap expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of winning to maintain their position in the standings. He noted that the players understood the significance of this match, especially with upcoming challenging away games.

Labasa is looking to bounce back from a disappointing draw in their previous two rounds against Nadi and Tailevu/Naitasiri. Their next challenge will be against Ba in Round 17 of the DFPL.

Pratap highlighted the improved decision-making of his players, as they successfully avoided risky passes in the match. He stressed the importance of keeping a lead over competitors like Lautoka, who are currently third in the standings and could rise to second.

He also congratulated Lalagavesi on his impressive debut performance, underscoring the significance of scoring in his first game at home.

In other results, Tailevu/Naitasiri lost to Navua 2-1, Suva defeated Nadroga 4-0, Ba edged past Nadi 1-0, and Rewa won 2-0 against Lautoka.
