Damodar Group has announced the opening of a new 40-room hotel in Labasa, which is expected to transform tourism and accommodation in the area. This development is part of the broader Damodar City Labasa project, where Damodar North Pte Limited has invested a total of $60 million, with $10 million specifically allocated for the hotel’s construction and fit-out.
Div Damodar, the Chief Executive Officer of Damodar Group, stated that the new hotel will serve as a catalyst for attracting other brands to Labasa. He expressed enthusiasm about the project, emphasizing that it marks the beginning of a new era for tourism and accommodation in Vanualevu.
The introduction of Ramada Encore by Wyndham is anticipated to encourage further growth in the local tourism industry. Damodar highlighted that its presence will open up more opportunities for related tourism activities in the scenic regions surrounding Labasa.
The newly constructed Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel will accommodate both business and leisure travelers with its well-appointed rooms and a variety of facilities, which include a conference venue, swimming pool, gym, outdoor sitting area, entertainment space, restaurants, and bars. These amenities aim to enhance the accommodation experience while upholding the high standards associated with the Ramada Encore brand globally.
In discussing the future of tourism in Labasa, Mr. Damodar noted the potential for various attractions such as hiking tours, river safaris, and fishing excursions.
Manoa Kamikamica, the Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, commented that the hotel is set to elevate standards of hospitality in Labasa as its first international brand hotel. He acknowledged the Fijian government’s commitment to fostering investment and development in Labasa and Vanua Levu, ensuring the region can meet current demands and is prepared for future growth.
