Labasa is poised for a significant economic boost with the introduction of a new business initiative led by Cagivou Investment. Jerry Tuiwai, the director and ambassador for Cagivou, announced that this expansion into Labasa is not only focused on fostering business growth but also on actively involving local youth in various operations.

The plans for Labasa include the construction of a supermarket, a shopping center, and residential apartments. Tuiwai highlighted that their mission is to create jobs for young people in the area, drawing from their recent success in launching a supermarket in Kinoya. This previous venture, which was initially met with skepticism due to its location in a “red zone,” has now successfully employed local youth, demonstrating the positive impact of such initiatives on the community.

Samuela Ligairi, the Special Administrator for Labasa Town Council, expressed his appreciation for Cagivou Investment’s dedication to developing the northern region of Fiji. He extended a warm welcome to Tuiwai and his team, noting that the connection to Labasa is further strengthened by one of the board members who hails from the area.

This initiative comes at a time when Labasa is witnessing a trend of increased investment, with many other projects on the horizon. These developments are aligned with ongoing conversations about boosting economic growth in the region, which has already attracted significant investment focused on enhancing local commerce and tourism. Recent reports also indicate plans for additional commercial ventures, such as hotels and retail spaces, which are expected to further improve the local infrastructure and employment rates.

As Labasa embraces these emerging opportunities, residents can anticipate a revitalized economy characterized by greater job creation and an improved quality of life. The outlook for Labasa and its community is optimistic, as local investments continue to uplift and empower the northern region of Fiji.
