Labasa secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Suva in the Digicel Fiji Premier League Round 12 match at Subrail Park today. Christopher Wasasala’s decisive goal in the 15th minute, after a skillful setup by Molea Tigi, clinched the win for the Babasiga Lions.
Despite several scoring opportunities, Suva’s Solomon Islander Jaygrey Sipakana, Bruce Hughes, and Merill Nand failed to capitalize. The second-half addition of Meli Codro and Gagame Feni did little to improve Suva’s attack. Meanwhile, Labasa operated efficiently, with former Fiji U20 representative Melvin Mani controlling the midfield.
Goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva had a busy afternoon, making crucial saves to maintain the narrow lead. With this win, Extra Supermarket Labasa now leads the points table with 27 points, while Flick Hygiene Suva remains in the bottom three with 9 points.
