Labasa triumphed over Suva with a 1-0 victory in the Digicel Fiji Premier League Round 12 match held at Subrail Park today.
A 15th-minute goal by Christopher Wasasala, assisted by a splendid pass from Molea Tigi, secured the win for the Babasiga Lions.
Suva had several opportunities to score, but attempts by Solomon Islander Jaygrey Sipakana, Bruce Hughes, and Merill Nand were unsuccessful.
Changes in the second half, including the introduction of Meli Codro and Gagame Feni, did not significantly enhance Suva’s attacking efforts. Meanwhile, Labasa’s well-coordinated play was highlighted by former Fiji U20 player Melvin Mani, who performed strongly in midfield.
Goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva had a busy afternoon, making several crucial saves to maintain the narrow lead.
