The Grand Eastern Hotel in Labasa has expanded its accommodation offerings, addressing the area’s ongoing room shortages for travelers and business visitors. The expansion, led by hotel operator Charan Jeath Singh, introduces a new wing with 28 additional rooms, increasing the total rooms available at the hotel to 52. With this development, Singh’s properties in Labasa now offer a combined 72 rooms, including the 20 at the Friendly North Inn.

The newly opened wing features full kitchen facilities in eight of its rooms, allowing guests the option to prepare their meals. This addition aims to enhance guest comfort by providing more flexible accommodation options. Singh noted that this expansion is part of a broader strategy to support Labasa’s emergence as a commercial hub in the Northern region, offering greater comfort and choice for visitors.

Similar expansions in Labasa, such as Vuo Holiday Homes and the Vualiku Hotel, underscore a concerted effort to address the accommodation deficits in the area. These initiatives not only aim to meet growing demand but also support economic growth in Labasa, positioning it as a pivotal location for tourism and business development.

The Grand Eastern Hotel’s expansion, alongside these other developments, paints a promising picture for Labasa’s future. By increasing accommodation capacity, the region can better cater to the influx of visitors, particularly during peak event periods, encouraging further economic activity and investment. This growth trajectory offers new job opportunities and bolsters Labasa’s stature as an attractive destination for both domestic and international travelers. Overall, the outlook for Labasa’s hospitality sector is optimistic, with these expansions setting the stage for ongoing development and prosperity.
