The Extra Supermarket Labasa football club is preparing for an exciting matchup against Rewa FC in the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion series. This contest marks a clash between the champions of the Flour Mills of Fiji IDC and the Digicel Pacific Fiji Fact 2024 tournaments, promising an intense competition for fans and players alike.
Club president Rayaz Khan has been optimistic about the team’s preparations. Although head coach Ravneel Pratap is currently unavailable due to personal commitments, Khan noted that the players have been responsive in training. He believes that Pratap’s eventual return will provide the critical final adjustments needed to refine their game plan.
The Babasiga warriors have a rich history in the CVC, having claimed the title three times—once in 2017 against Ba, again in 2020 against Lautoka, and most recently in 2021 against Suva. As they look to assemble a strong squad, there are currently no indications that players would transfer to other districts during the ongoing Fiji FA player transfer window. However, former striker Ratu Anare has expressed interest in rejoining the team, which Khan is hopeful to facilitate.
The first leg of the CVC series will kick off at Subrail Park on Saturday, February 1, at 1:30 PM, followed by the second leg at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori on Sunday, February 9, at 3 PM.
This upcoming series not only reignites Labasa’s competitive spirit in the league but also showcases their determination to maintain a legacy of excellence. As fans gear up to support their team, there’s a common hope that Labasa can achieve significant success in this prestigious tournament, rekindling the passion and pride associated with their past victories.
In summary, Labasa FC is focused and hopeful as they approach the crucial CVC series, motivated by previous successes and the desire to add another title to their resume.
