Heavy rainfall in Labasa has revealed significant leaks in the local fish market, affecting vendors’ operations. Samuela Ligairi, the special administrator of Labasa Town Council, acknowledged receiving complaints from vendors and has addressed the issue with the market’s maintenance foreman.
Ligairi emphasized their understanding of the vendors’ concerns and stated that discussions regarding the leaks had taken place with the maintenance team. He assured vendors that they are treating the matter with urgency, recognizing the increasing frequency of heavy rains.
“It is crucial for us to explore sustainable solutions to prevent future issues,” Ligairi noted, stressing the importance of ensuring the market’s safety for all users. He confirmed that repairs to the leaking roof are expected to be finished by Saturday.
