Heavy rainfall has highlighted significant leaks in the Labasa fish market, disrupting operations for local vendors. Samuela Ligairi, the special administrator of Labasa Town Council, stated that he has addressed the concerns with the foreman in charge of the market’s maintenance, following complaints from the vendors.

“We understand the concerns of our vendors,” Ligairi confirmed. He mentioned that discussions regarding the leaks have taken place with the maintenance team.

In response to inquiries, Ligairi emphasized that the council is taking the matter seriously. “We recognize that heavy rains are becoming more frequent, and it is essential for us to consider sustainable solutions to prevent such issues in the future,” he noted.

Ligairi also assured that addressing the leaks is a top priority. “Our goal is to ensure the market is safe for everyone,” he stated. Repairs to the leaking roof are projected to be completed by Saturday.
