EXTRA Supermarket Labasa FC is looking to regain their momentum in this week’s match against Tailevu Naitasiri as part of round 14 of the Digicel Fiji Premier League.
Following a disappointing 4-2 defeat to Lautoka in round 13, the team is focused on securing a victory, particularly on their home ground.
Head coach Ravneel Pratap expressed his confidence in the team’s preparations, acknowledging the drop in morale after the recent loss.
“The team faced challenges while playing at home, but they are eager to bounce back and not let down our fans and supporters,” Pratap said. “Our defense has been a primary concern; we have worked on it during the week and we are ready for the clash against Tailevu Naitasiri.”
Despite missing three key players—Taniela Waqa, Christopher Wasasala, and Akeimi Ralulu—due to injuries, the team remains optimistic.
They have faith in the abilities of their younger players and hope to deliver a strong performance against their rivals.
“We know Naitasiri will come well-prepared; they are trying to escape the relegation zone, while we are fighting to climb higher in the standings,” he added. The team is eager to play at home and is encouraging Labasa fans to come out in support.
Labasa had been challenging the league leaders, Rewa, for the top spot but fell behind after last week’s defeat.
Tailevu Naitasiri, on the other hand, will be looking to gather points as their recent losses have placed them at the bottom of the table. They are aware of the difficulty of facing Labasa but believe they can pull off an upset, having done so several times this season.
In other Digicel Fiji Premier League matches today, Suva is set to face Nasinu at 3 PM at the Uprising Sports Complex in Pacific Harbour, while Nadi will host Lautoka at 7 PM at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
Tomorrow will see two more matches; Rewa will take on Flowserve Engineering & Pump Supplies Navua FC, and Rooster Chicken Ba FC will compete against Nadroga.
After 13 rounds of competition, Rewa leads the standings with 30 points, followed by Labasa with 27 points, Lautoka with 22 points, and Nadi with 21 points.
