Labasa FC Set for a Comeback: Can They Overcome Tailevu Naitasiri?

EXTRA Supermarket Labasa FC is set to regain their momentum in this week’s match against Tailevu Naitasiri during round 14 of the Digicel Fiji Premier League. Following a disappointing 4-2 defeat to Lautoka in round 13, the team is determined to find success, especially while competing on their home ground.

Head coach Ravneel Pratap expressed optimism regarding their preparations, acknowledging the team’s low morale after the loss to Lautoka. He highlighted that the players faced difficulties while representing their hometown but are eager to rebound and not let down their fans and supporters.

“The main concern has been our defence, which we have focused on improving this week as we gear up for the clash against Tailevu Naitasiri,” Pratap stated. He also mentioned that three key players, Taniela Waqa, Christopher Wasasala, and Akeimi Ralulu, will be sidelined due to injuries; however, the team is still hopeful due to the potential of their younger players.

Pratap noted that Naitasiri is likely to come well-prepared as they attempt to escape the relegation zone, while Labasa is striving to climb the league rankings. He called on Labasa fans to come out in large numbers to support the team at home.

Labasa had previously been challenging league leaders Rewa for top points but fell behind after their recent loss to Lautoka. Meanwhile, Tailevu Naitasiri is under pressure to secure points as they currently sit near the bottom of the standings, aware of the formidable challenge of facing Labasa at their home ground but buoyed by their past performances this season.

In addition, today’s Digicel Fiji Premier League matches include Suva against Nasinu at 3 PM at the Uprising Sports Complex in Pacific Harbour and Nadi hosting Lautoka at 7 PM at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. Tomorrow, Rewa will face Flowserve Engineering & Pump Supplies Navua FC, while Rooster Chicken Ba FC takes on Nadroga.

As it stands after 13 rounds, Rewa leads the league with 30 points, followed by Labasa with 27, Lautoka at 22 points, and Nadi with 21.
